The Vision Behind Montero Performance Racing

Montero Performance Racing was founded with one clear goal: to build a competitive, professional pathway into grassroots wheel-to-wheel racing. This program is being developed from the ground up with structure, preparation, and long-term growth in mind — not shortcuts.

Built under the Montero Motorsports brand, MPR represents the start of a serious racing effort focused on performance, development, and credibility at the club level.

Brayden Harmon – Pit Crew, Montero Performance Racing

I joined Montero Performance Racing (MPR) because I had the opportunity to watch the team begin forming from the very start. As someone from Westerville, Ohio, and a close friend of Shawn Montero, I saw firsthand the vision he had for building a racing program and bringing people together to help make it happen.

When he first explained what he wanted to create, it was clear that this was not meant to be just a short-term project or something casual. The idea behind MPR was to build a real team — one focused on growth, teamwork, and creating opportunities for drivers who want to pursue racing seriously.

Even though I didn’t have a background in motorsports or experience working on race cars before joining the team, I was interested in learning and contributing wherever I could. Motorsport is not just about the drivers on track; it takes an entire group of people behind the scenes working together to make everything possible.

That’s what led me to become part of the pit crew at Montero Performance Racing.

Being part of the pit crew means helping support the team during race weekends and making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Pit crew members play a critical role in the flow of a race weekend, helping assist mechanics, preparing equipment, and making sure the team stays organized under pressure.

Even small details can make a big difference when a team is competing, and learning how those pieces come together has been one of the most interesting parts of being involved with the team.

Since joining MPR, I’ve had the chance to start learning more about how motorsports teams operate and how important teamwork is within racing. Every person in the garage, on the pit wall, and around the track plays a role in supporting the drivers and helping the team perform at its best.

One of the things that stood out to me about Montero Performance Racing is that it’s being built around a positive team environment. The goal isn’t just to compete, but to create a place where people can learn, improve, and grow together while working toward something bigger.

Being part of a team from the early stages means everyone involved is helping shape what the program will eventually become. As MPR grows, every crew member contributes to building the culture, the work ethic, and the teamwork that define the organization.

For me, being involved with the pit crew is also an opportunity to learn more about motorsports and gain experience in a racing environment. Even without prior experience, being part of a team like this means constantly learning new things, developing new skills, and understanding how the sport works behind the scenes.

Motorsports requires coordination, trust, and communication between everyone involved. Watching how those pieces come together during preparation and competition is one of the things that makes being part of the team exciting.

Montero Performance Racing is still growing, but that’s part of what makes it special. Being part of the foundation of a team means helping build something from the ground up and watching it develop over time.

As the team continues to expand and take on new challenges, I’m looking forward to learning more about the sport, improving my role within the pit crew, and continuing to support the team as it moves forward.

For me, being part of Montero Performance Racing is about teamwork, learning, and helping contribute to something that has the potential to grow into something much bigger.
